PROVIDING FOR THE DISABLED
The Facts
For many years better-informed businesses have made sure they are able to make provision for customers with disabilities. Why? because the disability market represents a major potential source of income.
It has been estimated that over 8.5 million disabled people in Britain have a combined spending power of over £40 Billion per annum. Disabled people therefore represent an important source of revenue for guest accommodation as leisure visitors and increasingly as business users.
The Law
The Disability Discrimination Act came into force in 2004 which means that all businesses including those in tourism have to make reasonable adjustment to the way that services are delivered so that they better meet the requirements of the disabled
