DISPLAY TARIFFS

It is an offence to give guests misleading information about the prices charged for accommodation or any services provided by you. Check with your local trading standards department for further advice.

You must also display the accommodation prices you charge. If you have more than four rooms/eight beds and you take chance (those who have not booked in advance) customers you must display in your reception area, where customers can see, the current standard prices for (where relevant):

  • Single room
  • Double room
  • Family room

If you charge VAT this should be included together with any services charge. You must state this on the display. If breakfast is included in the price you must also say that.

If you supply food and drink to Non-residents then you must also display on the same basis as above prices. There are special points relating to menus so please check again with the Trading Standards Department.

If you take credit cards and you make a surcharge for this you must tell the customer and display that.

You may well have to display the tariff for your business - it should be clear and any VAT elements should be included.
