Energy Efficiency

The main independent source of information on energy efficiency is the Carbon Trust www.thecarbontrust.co.uk, which is a government agency. They provide special leaflets for the Hotel/B&B sector and for Leisure Centres (swimming pools) these can be downloaded. However you have to register on line to gain access to them (this is a free service).

To access this information you have to click through four pages.

First page - click Action Energy under the main heading Reduce Carbon Emissions. Second page - under Focus on Savings click onto sector specific help. Third Page - click onto Service Sectors.

Fourth Page - clicking onto Hotels & B&Bs and/or Leisure Centres will take you to another page – if you are not registered you will have to complete their registration process to allow you to download the leaflets – a quick process, which once completed allows you to download the leaflets immediately.

The leaflets are 4/5 pages and contain good basic tips to allow you to reduce your energy bills.

The HCIMA (Hotel & Catering International Management Association) have a very good web site Hospitality Climates www.hospitableclimates.co.uk/ which includes lots of relevant information, tips and links.

If you would like to download this document please click on one of the links below:

Many energy efficiency tips are common sense and low cost so make sure you download the leaflets from the carbon trust site.

There are also low cost loans to help – if you’re a small or medium-sized business (less than 250 employees), you could borrow £5,000 to £50,000 at 0% fixed interest to fund the purchase of equipment such as lighting, boilers or insulation.
